These things are problems for me too

It is worse than that because the addresses we have are dynamic. They
will change. Maybe not very often now but that will change as more users
come on. The guy at Telecom told me that static IP's were no longer
possible because they have to provide acess to ISP's other than XTRA.
Something to do with having to run a pool of raduis servers for
authentication.

I've used xtra's proxy to check my virtual hosts but its a major
pain and only works for the http, ftp etc.
I have been told (not by Telecom) that this is the correct behavour
for NAT as defined in the RFC. I tried reading the RFC but
would still like to know if this is true. Telecom told me to set up an
internal DNS which to me indicates they don't understand the problem.
The NAT RFC is worth a read as it lists other potential problems.
Differculties remote managing your network from the outside for instance

they stoped talking to me as well but I had started suggesting that
I didn't believe their answers.

I mislaid my modem about a year ago... I know this cause I was looking for
it so I could dial out to test my system from the outside.

Hopefully..... but I don't expect much soon. Telecom has a business
model it needs to implement and people who want to do what we are doing
are simply not a part of the plan.

How about log files from the Nokia..... I like to know what's being sent at
my system. I'm happy enough that I have a firewall. I'm not happy that I
only have 8 pinholes and no idea whatsoever of what it is not letting through.
I don't know if I am being attacked and I am missing some sometime vital
diagnostic information when I am testing a new service. It may be there I
haven't found anything.
How about an equipement specification. At some point we are going to be
able to buy our own terminating equipement. what are the rules going to be.
I for one would like to think that alternatives will be available.
If we buy equipement will we be supplied the manuals?
How about this one I reckon going through PPP is adding 50-80ms to my
pings LPB nomore? :)
cheers Harold
(hmmmm I do feel a little better)
ps 300mb is not a lot
