 I don't "know" this but I could say that their authentication requires PAP
using PPP over ATM. So if the "modem" passes the PPP on top of
TCP/IP to your box over an ethernet you have no problem.
 
  This may not be the case but does show you can rationalise anything
when you are desperate :)
