Dynmaic DNS is a good thing. I've been a user of dyndns and ml.org.

But if you are running a DNS server at home, and you need to tell Internic that
your IP has changed, and they only update once a day (under ideal conditions),
having an IP that changes frequently isn't really feasible.

An alternative is to run your DNS server somewhere else, but that's the hard
bit. Finding someone reliable to do that.
