, how do I put a Mac ( a G3) onto a small peer to peer hub, which also has the
ADSL modem linked into it , when the other machines on the hub are all Wintel.

FWIW: My topology is slight different. I plug my adsl modem in my FreeBSD firewall
box. My boxes talk to the firewall which talks to the modem.

ADSL box taking up one of the ports works just fine - however , the network
doesnt recognise the Mac , and so the latter cant get onto the ADSL box ?

Is this an allocation issue? What if the MAC is the only box turned on? How
many IPs will the ADSL modem issue? Have you had a look at the modem's DHCP
server to see what DHCP leases have been issued? I am unfamiliar with the Mac
but I'm guessing it can act as a DHCP client.

However, the specs look a bit hairy .

What does Dave do?

>I'm hoping someone on the list just might have the answer :-)

Someone should.

Can the Mac see the 95/98 box[es]? Can the Mac been seen by the other box[es]?
 Do pings work?
