I'd make sure I was only running tcp/ip over the LAN.
So long as you are running a DHCP aware tcp/ip stack on the G3 I would
have thought that it would work. The key point is that the M10 acts
as a DHCP server to assign the IP address to each device attached to
the network. Admittedly I've not seen heterogenous LAN up and running
but I have seen a pure Mac one going.

like the G3 is not getting an IP from the M10
