Hi everyone,

I'm back from my holiday and have walked straight into the RAN problem (I'll probably need another holiday after this week!).
I thought an update on the status of the network was in order...

As of this morning the RAN has stabilised and a majority of customers seem to be connected and working OK. The Lower Hutt DSLAM is currently offline and it seems that some of the problems we have been experiencing may have originated from there. There are Nokia and Telecom engineers onsite and we are endeavouring to locate the problem ASAP.

If you are still experiencing problems, please follow these steps...

1. Try reseting your modem. This is most easily achieved by turning it off for 30 seconds and then back on.
2. Once it has re-sync'd and the DSL light has gone green, go into the modem configuration page (type 192.168.1.254 in your browser address box and press enter, use any user name with a password of 'Telecom' when prompted.). Then click MONITOR then IP / INTERFACES. This will list a number of connections, if there is an IP number assigned to the PPP connection then your modem has authenticated successfully (your IP should be something like 210.52.152.x).

If you have any problems, please call the helpdesk on 0800 738 738.

Thanks,
Mark Barlow :-)
