This from an anonymous helper:

Modem firmware:

The latest software is 5.1.3.R2. Previous msg contained a typo.

pin holes:

I have had it confirmed that the range to range feature of the pin holing is
something that is in the latest version only(5.1.3.R2). It is suspected that
it sort of works in the 5.1.0 but is not stable. Earlier software does a range
to single port pin hole. This is another reason to upgrade to the latest software.

For people who are concerned that doing an upgrade from an "open" modem will
make it password protected: the firmware upgrade is not supposed to affect customer
configuration.

Please note this has not been tested against pre-password modems as these where
supposed to have been all changed out when a hardware upgrade was done. I suspect
that an upgrade from the early software will give a password protected modem

with the password set to a null string as it does not exist in the configuration
file of the early software. No guarantees.
