I'd rather spend a second moving the duplicate email to the delete bin and
be sure to have the response ...
rather than risk missing the single response, no doubt of significant
concern to me, lost in the list volume which was filtered off elsewheres...

| On some (hig volume) mailing lists it actually consider good practice to
| reply directly to the email as well as CC it to the mailing list. Often
| because a) mailing list message can up several hours or more to get
through
| the mailing list, b) the person my subscribe, post and unsubscribe so not
to
| deal with the volume of mail from the mailing list. (debian-users and
| debian-devel are examples of this.) I'd had questions answered with
several
| replies back and forth before they where seen on the mailing list.
|
| Usually a clever person in the above case might have a filter whic sends
| mailing list messages to a particular mail box and direct messages (even
if
| also CCed to the mailing list) to the inbox. Can helps improve respond
| time.
