I'd say the problem is most likely to be the phone lines, rather then
the hardware / software. This happens all the time to ISP customers who
have dodgy lines.

I can't think of any reason why an M10/M11 would be able to get the
client knocked off, although if they could only get as far as the gateway,
that could be due to the M10. (TCP is error correcting, and IP can handle
getting lost).

I'd advise checking the phone lines (assuming its dialup), then looking
at Windows. Also, what about trying to hang a null modem cable off the
terminal server, and seeing if something goes funny there ?
