My Jetstream introductory period expires shortly, and as my company sends a
lot of streaming media data to servers in the US, I am very keen to find a
flat rate solution.
I note that Worldnet is still claiming that they will announce their flat
rate ADSL prices in August. Ahem. Does anyone know if this is whatever the
bandwidth equivalent is of vapourware? Are we likely to see any flat rate
DSL any time soon given competitive pressure that must be biting Telecom,
such as Chello. The commissioning of the Southern Cross cable should also
mean that there's a lot more bandwidth to go around.
I am investigating Walker Wireless at the moment. Nowhere near the bandwidth
of DSL, but it is flat rate, They quoted me a price of $360 for a flat rate
128 K connection. That's both down and up. Pushing this much data, I'd
rather pay a bit less and do it a bit slower, knowing that I don't have to
keep checking usage meters. So, any comments on flat rate DSL, Walker
Wireless, and other options that might be available to me here in Wanganui
would be much appreciated.
