What is the command you use to connect? Normally FTP makes its control
connection to Port 21.
Are you saying you try to use a different port?

Normally, a simple client connection out to FTP requires no special
configuration for ADSL.

You can set pinholes that map most ports through, but you'll want to install
some sort of protection in between your LAN and the net before you do this.
A software or hardware firewall would be a good idea.
