Buy a Mac :)
All portable and desktop Macs now have AirPort capability (which is Apple-branded WaveLan technology, licenced from Lucent) built in.

The officially documented range is 150 feet, but a colleague of mine has made a small, uh, "modification", to his setup and achieved 19km range.
