ip's starting 172.30 are part of the Class B private address space (like
192.168 is private class c). see http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1918.html
I suspect telecom's private space.

Yes I notice that our DSL is down here this AM (still down as I type this).
I also notice from the logs that someone has logged into our box on the
private 172.30 address (ie someone from Telecom) and upgraded our firmware:
>05:08:02:11 L4 TS: User "admin" logging in from host 172.30.253.2
>05:08:02:12 L4 TS: User "admin" completed login as administrator
>05:08:02:12 L4 TS: file upload started by user "admin"
>05:08:02:12 L4 UPLD: transfer of file "ADSL/195.330.61002701903"
initiated
>to 0.63.254.24
>05:08:02:13 L4 UPLD: successful transfer of file
>"ADSL/195.330.61002701903"
>05:08:02:13 L4 TS: closing completion, result 0
>05:08:02:13 L4 TS: session closing, all completions done
>05:08:02:13 L4 TS: done releasing socket, result 0
However, I have changed the password on our M11 so it isn't "Telecom" any
more.
How did this technician log in? Do Telecom have yet-another-backdoor
password
they can use to get control of the M11?
What if I owned the M11? Would they still be able to do this?
I have tried telnetting to that IP# (172.30.254.1) and logging in as "admin"
and
"Telecom" which doesn't work, so they must be using another password.
Anyone know?
