Yes this is what happend to me, instead of replacing my broken M10 last
month with another M10, Connectel just changed my port at the exchange and
gave me an M11, even though my exchange is not due to be 'upgraded' until
28/11

Jason,
Every DSLAM is capable of connecting the new equipment and the 'new'
modems have been in use for new customers for some months now. I suppose
(not policy here just logic) you could always get moved to a new port is
you needed it due to purchasing a modem. Something to check out -
Telecom may charge for this though!!

Cheers
Wayne

to
know as it doesn't affect us. Knowing that your DSLAM will be upgraded
a few
months prior doesn't really mean anything either to my mind.

I disagree on this point. I'm sure there are customers (I think you
used the
term users) waiting/wanting to purchase their own ADSL hardware and
suppliers such as myself keen to sell it.

Therefore it's important (at least until all exchanges are upgraded) to
not
only know if the exchange supports Jetstream but also whether it's
been
upgraded and will support the product you've decided to
purchase/supply.

As you know, I'm not enthralled with having purchased a 3Com
HomeConnect
ADSL Modem Dual Link to find out afterwards it's not supported by the
Berhampore exchange because it hasn't been upgraded. I've paid for
telepermitted equipment I could be using and learning about instead of
continuing to pay $30 a month to Telecom for rental equipment. I'd be
even
less enthralled if I was an unknowledgeable customer and found myself
in
this situation.

Jason.

P.S. Does anyone have the Nokia M[W]1122 ADSL Router connected to an
exchange that hasn't been upgraded?
