Hi All,

It's actually changed a little since that letter was drafted. The only things
that will stop me backing up your modem config are pinholing telnet and/or
changing the admin password. Generally when there are DSLAM upgrades I back up
the whole country to maximise my chances of having a config file when it comes
time to upgrade any given area.

The biggest problem we're having is Joe user not understanding that he should
just plug his M(W)1122 in when he went to bed on the night of a DSLAM upgrade.
As soon as the cards are changed around 3am his modem will come online and the
scripts will pick him up and upload his config. You truely would not believe how
many times I have seen modems plugged in and automatically configured with the
username/passwords/ethernet ip addresses etc only to have the user come in and
make a miistake with the username/password and take the PPP interface down.

If anyone has any questions or comments about what the scripts can pick up in
your old config and put on your new modem pelase post them here as it would help
us to automatically configure more users.

Cheers,

Andrew
