Was John replying to a question of Open _Source_? I know they have said they will not provide Open Source, however they will supply a binary.
I have been contacted by Steve Egbert of Efficient who says they are beta testing the Linux driver for the 3061, I pressed him on the point of whether this supported the 3060 which he has never answered directly but I get the impression that it doesn't.
Telecom have told me they have had promises from Efficient of a Linux driver by a date (originally much earlier than October) which keeps getting delayed.
The 3061 is "virtually identical to 3060", and I "would be a qualified candidate for the Linux ADSL driver beta test program"... last I heard from him was just over a week ago before Thanksgiving when he said he had "hurdles to jump when it comes to someone from New Zealand" and I should "hang in there".
This is, it seems, the best hope we have of a Linux supporting ADSL modem at this time - at least they have a driver written.
According to ASUS, their chipset manufacturer has not written a Linux driver, I was told by Mark Cleeve of Insite (the NZ distributors) that under Windoze this card uses VXD files so it sounds like the WinModem scenario... I'm not holding my breath here.
I still haven't got any info out of Nokia.
Jeremy.
