Thanks Juha,
Went to DSLReports, tested and followed suggestions on BOTH machines.
The result is that the pc now downloads at 434Kb/sec and the notebook at
340Kb/sec from the same site (paradise), so a significant improvement
allround, although the difference is beyond me. I am quite happy now.
