I'd most appreciate you taking a water blaster to my network provider to
give them a good clean up, while you're at. :-)

As a router implementor, I'd consider dumping NAPT state if I knew that
the physical/data link layer on the interface NAPT was associated with,
went down.

Possibly that's what is happening; the MW loses carrier and purges all the
in-progress NAT connections?

Yes. I am a Jetstream customer; I regularly contact a Jetstream-connected
site in NZ. I too find my sessions periodically disconnected (though in my
case, this is due to routing problems in the Jetstream network that
Telecom have not yet been able to fix).
