This just happened to me.
Lucky I hadn't purchased a modem. I'll have to cancel my xtra setup though.
So when are Telstra fiberinging Northcoat? :)

Subject: loss of sync and line faults
I note a couple of things with my recent JetStart install that may be of
interest.
The Telecom web page that provides information on downstream and upstream
speeds does not guarantee that the service will work to your home,
particularly if you are on the network fringe. This according to the install
technician. I had heard this before but had not had it qualified.
Despite my telephone working correctly on the phone line, the line still had
an earth fault. This caused the M1122 to sync up and then lose sync a few
seconds later. Once the fault was cleared the modem sync'd no problem. Ok,
understandable but also interesting to know in case an earth fault occurs
again in the future or anyone else is having trouble with their install.
I wonder if noisy or loss'y lines determine an unsuccessful installation on
the fringe of the reachable network and whether the install tech's can test
for this and arrange for swapping to another less noisy line? Assuming one
exists?
Oh another thing...if you order JetStart, wait until after it is installed
before buying your modem. Just in case the install tech can't get it to
work.
