Hiyas

Anyone out there using JetStart with Xtra?

What IP's are you being assigned?

My bosses JetStart connection at home is with Xtra. He logs in using
"usename.xdsl@xtra.co.nz" as his username (with username sub'd with his of
course).

He is always assigned an IP number that resolves to a Paradise.NET domain name
though (current IP is 203.96.145.57). Consequently he is unable to relay mail
through smtp.xtra.co.nz, nor access news at news.xtra.co.nz.

Is anyone else using JetStart with Xtra and being assigned IP's out of another
ISPs range?

After 3 days the Xtra helpdesk have called my boss back and told him that there
is nothing wrong with the JetStart service and it must be his end causing the
problem. How his end can be the cause of an incorrect IP allocation, I do not
know.

Luckily one of the Newsmasters from Xtra has looked into the problem (currently
working with Telecom), but if he hadn't see my complaints here and offered to
help then Xtra would have basically washed their hands of it. At the moment he
is waiting on Telecom to come back to him after giving them the landline number.

Ted - you read this don't you? Can't someone at Telecom or Xtra get this sorted
a little quicker and through the correct channels rather than through someone
I've met online who just happens to work at Xtra.

Its been literally days now and nothing has been done. This is NOT our fault,
its a problem with the network!

Anyway I've had my gripe now. Anyone who's considering JetStart - IMHO DON'T go
with Xtra. Their support is hopeless.
