Theoretically you do not need to run the Windows configurator.
If you configure the NIC connected to the 3com with IP 192.168.157.1/24,
then browse from the Linux box to 192.168.157.100. You should get the page
shown here

Which allows you to configure a PPP ISP and monitor the DSL stats.

If you browse "through" the Linux box, then turn on NAT on the 192.168.157.1
address.

This issue is currently unique to the 3com duallink, it is not the micro
outage issue that is being complained about by many users.
The 3com (sometimes) needs a keep alive every 14seconds. I doubt LCP Echo
packets make it as far as Telecom's u$age meter.
