The net connection is to be shared with my flatmates. At the moment we have
56k [optimistic], and it's so horrible that even doubling it wouldn't really
satisfy our need for speed. 128k is just not broadband, IMO, and a waste of
DSLs capability, but the fast flat rate situation is exactly what I'm
looking for.

If I could speed up our connection by balancing outgoing between two 128k
connections, then the only obstacle to actually doing it is the double
install fee and modem cost, but I figure I could spread this out over a
couple of months (deal with 128k until we can afford the second connection).
