Just considering the possibility of vague problems that I don't know
anything about (wire crosstalk would be a prime example ;)

Cheers, I'll keep that in mind if I have to argue with anyone ;)

Of course, that's how I see it... I would much prefer just to buy into a 256
or 512 setup, but I have to consider the possibility that Telecom wont go
faster themselves, and also wont allow anyone else to. This is my next-best
solution, until someone IS offering faster connections in Auckland. I know
there is already one alternative, but that is not an option for reasons best
kept off list.

Sounds like you're looking for exactly the same thing as me. How much
demand do you think there would need to be before Telecom would see it as
viable?

For the record, I would take any one of these offerings! Upstream is not an
issue, as long as it's a minimum of 64k. Maybe it's time I moved to another
country =(

You say it's not a fair comparison... what do these countries have that NZ
doesn't? Is it purely an economic thing? (Large numbers of people is
something these countries have...) What are the obstacles that prevent
Telecom offering customizable bandwidth limits?

128k down / 128k up = Jetstart
3000k down / ? up = Jetstream

There's not really a lot of options there... there's room at LEAST for a
256k,512k and 1000 or 1500k offering...
