fast for the conditions"

That would certainly figure, and could explain why people aren't reporting
the micro-outages so much on the M1122. I was getting micro-outages several
times a day on an M11, which had a max downstream of >8000kbit/s. With the
M1122, I can't remember the last time I had an outage, but my max reported
downstream is 7616 kbit/s. I suspect this is a reflection of the different
modems negotiating different max speeds. Anyone else get lower max on the
M1122 than the M11 and no outages?

I'd like to suggest that anyone experiencing micro-outages contact Wayne
with the details, as he has offered in this message.

Our connection has gone from about 5 micro-outages a day to none whatsoever
in 4 days after an adjustment of "noise margin" made by Wayne :-)

The reported maximum line speed is considerably slower, but I can still get
about 375KB/s max from NZ sites, so I'm not complaining :) It seems that
the ADSL modem/exchange can be somewhat optimistic about what speed they
negotiate for a given line quality and end up trying to go too fast for the
conditions, particularly if the line quality varies with time, as I suspect
ours might. (Perhaps a sign of this is that after each micro-outage, the
reported line rate was wildly different, varying from 5000-6200)

Regards,
Simon
