One criticism I would have about Telecom in this regard, is that Jetstream
Support are continuing to give the wrong login information to new customers
(well at least customers of Xtra, I'm not sure about the others).
I thought this had been sorted out (they did this to me personally four
months ago), but one of my customers last week was still given their new
login details in the format as follows.

Login: loginname.xadsl
Well, we all know the format should be: loginname.xadsl@xtra.co.nz

This is yet another trap for the first time user, attempting to go it alone.
It wouldn't hurt if Jetstream support advised customers of the correct
VCI/VPI numbers, and the requirement to choose PPP over ATM as the
encapsulation, when advising customers of their login details. It would
surely reduce their support costs, and make everyone's life easier.

Resellers like myself do our best to help end users with their installs, but
I don't feel this has been handled as well as it should have by both Telecom
or the hardware suppliers. For example, 3Com have failed to include any of
this information, or even a NZ BT plug adapter in the box with the dual link
or PCI modem.

Dave.
