Nice Howto... thanks. It best to put stuff in one place that every one uses.

One note- redhat 7.0's rp-pppoe package calls the adsl startup script
"/etc/rc.d/init.d/pppoe"
You can install it using
chkconfig --add pppoe --level 345
This automatically makes the appropriate symlinks for starting and stopping,
including nicely running adsl-stop when you change run levels. Also makes the
appropriate file in /var/lock/subsys/
