Yeah, but we do well considering where we are. Broadband is great for those
that really need it. But most people don't know what the difference between
56k and 128k is.

It would be nice to watch streaming stuff, and video conference and stuff..
very cool. But I don't think I'd get into that too much, and so for me, like
alot of others, we want broadband for downloading really fast.

But 128k is all good, it's a matter of time for downloads to finish.
Paitience is a virtue.. :0)

Yeah, in my case... xtra and telecom don't know their left from their
right.. you go back and forth if your not too sure which company to call..
Symptom of how their setup.. but I work in customer service and do the
phones... and...

It's amazing the amount of abuse you get over the phone.. and some rep's are
better than others.. know what is going on etc... I know they should be up
to date, but sometimes they aren't.

NZ's pricing is similar to overseas.. which shows how good we are at making
the best out of our situation. The only thing I think that would be
different if we didn't have a monopoly is that we might have 256k and 512k
accounts already... but flatrate.. not too sure on that.

The southern cross cables got to pay for itself, and articles I've read show
that by the time you've put the cable in, if you did it now you'd get 10
times the bandwidth for the same cost.. Give it a couple of years and you'll
have what you want now..

I'm just sitting back with 128k.. remembering the 1200 baud days.. It still
takes as long as it did to get what you want, because the size of our
transfers have grown.. ie.. a game back then may have taken all day... same
thing with an ISO / DivX... (whoops.. I didn't say that..)..

but you know what I mean..

That 8mbit unrestricted gift from telecom to DSL was an awesome taste of
broadband.. anyone ever figure out why they did that? (a test?)

anyhow.. starting to ramble..

good luck in getting what you want :0)

Iain
