Telecom have made up rules. The rules say if you haven't got a PTC
sticker on your equipment then its not telepermitted. If I order
overseas say a Nokia M1122 overseas and use it in New Zealand, the Nokia
M1122 is NOT telepermitted even if it looks and acts exactly like a
locally sourced Telepermitted Nokia M1122. Telecom have made up these
rules for a reason, and people should stick to them.

I have nothing against Telecom in this respect at all.

Checking if a Particular Modem is on a telepermit list is not good
enough: (This is on the telepermit web page). It HAS to have the sticker
on it when connected to Telecom's Network. The "Permit to Connect" (PTC)
sticker says basically you have permission to connect it to telecom's
network. If there is no sticker you don't have permission.

BEWARE!!
Part of the condition of a Telepermit grant is that the equipment
displays a Telepermit Label. If a product does not display a Label then
it does NOT have a Telepermit. Most Telecommunications equipment is
manufactured in several versions depending upon which country it is
intended for. The product marketing description will often remain the
same despite the internal differences. It cannot be assumed that a
product which does not have a Telepermit is suitable for connection in
New Zealand on the basis of it having the same product name as one that
is Telepermitted.

If someone uses a non PTC device on Telecom's Network then beware.
