Hi Brian / Michael,
I'm not actually in the sales or the support departments of DSE, hence why I
didn't know about this until today (after it had already happened). I do
understand why you would jump to the conclusion that this was a sales
motivated message. However, I did genuinely post the message purely from my
own personal interest in the ADSL list, and you will also note that I did
not attempt to disguise who I work for.
In answer to your question, I do not have first hand knowledge of the Ni500
(having never actually used one myself), however I understand from my own
research that if you want to connect more than one PC to the network then
you need an M1122.
The information on the Nokia website states that the Ni500 is a router.
However the FAQ on the Nokia site also clearly states that the Ni500 is the
best "ADSL Router" choice if "You currently only need to connect a single
PC". It also clearly states that the Ni500 does not support pinholes.
Possibly why the DSE web site refers to it as only a UTP modem?
Without being able to get my hands on one at the moment, I would take the
information on the Nokia site at face value. ie: If you want to connect
several PC's you need an M1122.
As I am not in the support area of DSE, I have my own work to do, however if
I get the opportunity sometime I will try and get my hands on one to play
around with.
Regards
Greg

O.K. Now that you have had your free plug, how about doing some work in
return.
Lets put DSE support of the products you sell to the test.
The Nokia Ni500 and M1122 are both defined as routers on Nokia's site.
You list the Ni500 as a "UTP modem" for $391 and the M1122 for $757.
So how does a PC communicate "UTP" to a Ni500 and is it a router or a modem?
