q: are these problems hard to over come?
What I am planning to do is to have the adsl modem connected up to 1 computer running as a small ftp server which i will be using for my studies. This computer will be running windows 2000 or windows 98 depending on the os i need to use at the time. I would also like to be able to use it as a small webserver holding just a few pages of information.
q: will the ASUS AAM-6000EV happily run with a ftp and web server?
I also have a laptop which i would like to bring home from uni and just plug it straight into the router and have access to the internet - no fuss and troubles each day trying to set it up. This laptop runs windows 2000.
I plan to run black ice defender on both the computers to stop them naughty people doing naughty people things to my computers.
Is this all possible with the ASUS AAM-6000EV? I origenally wanted to go for the ni500 until i read all your comments about it and figured it wouldnt suit my needs by not allowing me to setup a ftp server.
>From what i have read the asus will suit my needs best over the dual link 3com (as they are supposedly pulling out of the modem business therefor no support in the future), and the high end nokias which are getting way to pricey for me. $500 is already stretching my poor uni student/supermarket slave - err worker budget for the modem.
Have you guys got any comments that might help me with my final decision? I would greatly appreciate them! Any thing i have over looked? =]
Thanks guys I appreciate this!
