Your still better off getting the full install.
As I have said before you can not tell if your line is on a 1 + 1, 0 + 2
filter or may have impedance balancing coils loaded across it. Using the
full install these problems are taken care of for you.
But if you attempt a cheap install and have to call them about one of these
type problems it will cost you more than the original full rate install.
(According to my sources).
Now if you are in a relatively new subdivision and all the cabling is
underground you probably could get away with it, but if your cabling is
overhead, I wouldn't risk it I would use the full install.
The kicker for new underground subdivisions is that some (south east
Auckland in particular) have PCM feeds to the subdivision and of course ADSL
will not run on PCM or fibre optic, it must be copper all the way.

Subject: Nokia Line Filters are now available

A few people were looking for Nokia Z-200SM Line Filters a while back. I've
just noticed that my supplier (Tech Pacific) have stock at last.
I'm not sure whether these are the same line filters that Telecom (and their
contractors) install, or just a consumer installed micro-filter.
RRP is given as $18+ GST.
If they are the former, I guess that means end users can now do an install
at their end, leaving Telecom to do their $99 bit at their end.
Any comments from you guys on the list at Telecom?
