I'm in the same boat, I use the dynamic DNS service at http://hn.org

My IP doesn't seem to change very often, outages of about 10 minutes don't
cause a change in IP, but much more than that and there is a semi resonable
chance...

The hn.org dynamic service allows you to run a real domain name rather than
mydomain.dyndns.com (for example). Exactly how they do this is the subject of
another mail.
