It would be nice to use the argument that they got the infrastructure for a
too low price and therefore should owe us something, but it doesn't work like
that. We sold it, they bought it. You can make a moral argument, but it won't
cut much ice anywhere, the government can force them to owe us something, but
only because the government can do anything they want, not because they
actually do.

While they aren't breaking any laws, they are a monopoly. They are the only
organisation with access to the local loop in most of the country. Rightly or
wrongly this is how it is going to stay for the forseable future. Saturn are
laying cable, but VERY slowly, I guess that Telecom can use them as an example
of competition to try and deflect monopoly accusations. However most people
can't use them to actually get away from the monopoly.

You make a good argument, one I can't convincinly refute.
