Is there a major contradiction in that article or is it just me getting
confused with what 'service' means in this context?

The short answer is yes, yes there is...

The longer answer is that Telecom and TUANZ both quote from the same report
(at least, I think it's the same report), but both compare the NZ figures
with overseas' figures differently...

I have a copy of the report if anyone would like to see it - it's about 50
pages though, so drop me a line and I'll fire it across (we've all got
high-speed connections, right? ;)).

I spoke with Paul Swain after writing the story and he said he's just about
lost all faith in international comparison studies because of just this
kind of problem - each country weights things differently, uses different
measures and different models and it makes a pig's ear of the whole
business...

Hope this helps,

Cheers,
