The so called 'zero subnet' (where the last network
bit is
all zeroes) used to occaisionally cause problems on
older network equipment.

Generally it's not considered a problem these days,
although some purists still tend to avoid using it.

On cisco gear support for the zero subnets is turned
on with the command:

"ip subnet-zero"

"ip classless" enables CIDR Classless routing, which
increases your options a bit as well.

whole subnet calculation schmozzle, try:
