Hey Phil,

Well, to answer you're question about a ISP. Well, I guess I can suggest
my isp. I have excellent service from my isp. Since im the
networking/computer hardware field I do not need the support just like
you from a help desk etc.

To be really honest, I haven't experienced an outage from my ISP. Its
been really good. Ive heard of many individuals etc, having problems,
but ive had nothing. The only problem ive had in about the last 6 months
has been a proxy server that has gone down for a couple hours at them,
but that has been about it.

The isp im with is NET4U. You can also get a static ip address from
them. Since I use a router, and im connected all the time, my ip address
never changes. Goes to show that i never have outages and my connection
never drops.

Well, just a little from me about my isp. Give Sahil a call at NET4u and
he will sort you out if you need any help or other information.

Cheers .. Hope This Helps :)

Jithen

Subject: ISPs

Hi,

I'm sure that this must have been asked before, but I can't get through
to
the list archives - apologies.

This is basically a who is the best ISP question. Ideally I'd like to
go
with someone who will give me a static IP and are all ISPs affected
equally
by the micro-outage problem?

I don't really want much else like web space or 0800 help desk numbers -
I'm
an open systems developer with a numebr of years networking experience.
I
just
want a high quality connection to the ouside world.

As an aside, we've just seen the suggestions for router thread, any
suggestions for
a decent External (UTP) modem. I already have Firewall, NAT, VPN, DNS
proxy, DHCP etc. in place so I don't really need all the features
offered by
a lot of these routers.

Cheers

Phil
