This does worry me a little tiny bit, you don't need to be running a server,
and in the case of an external router modem, you don't even have to have a
normal computer switched on to be the target of a flood attack.

I managed to run into this one. My brother went mental on directconnect and
ran up 14GB... we got a hand signed letter through the post notifying us of
probable disconnection one month hence. I kicked my brother off the net
(he hadn't payed me for it, and amazingly that was about 3 months ago - he
hasn't used it at all at home...), and they didn't cut me off :-)

I find that this isn't true at all.. In fact, FTP to local sites can
completely saturate my connection :-( I don't use napster, but I ocasionally
use Gnutella, and my brother never complained about Direct Connect.

It would be nice if FTP was a low priority for my incomming connection. I'm
guessing that they are talking about low priority on their incomming
connections.

Web internet doesn't have bandwidth problems in my experiance, I've never
noticed slow ftp from good sites....
