Not necessarily. UPnP may describe itself as "Universal", but it seems
odd to me that a new industry body was needed to define this standard.
Why not make it a truely universal internet standard by developing it
with the IETF?
It could be that microsoft want to keep tight control, perhaps there are
going to be some license fees on the standard, i couldn't find any
information on this matter on the website.

Of course, there is still the reverse engineering route, though no doubt
the license for XP prohibts that, and there are no other devices that
support UPnP...
