If you want the "real ip" on your linux box you have a few choices.

1) ITEX based Internal Modem (most are Itex based such as dynalink, asus
etc)
2) 3Com HomeConnect (PPPoE to it)
3) Alcatel Home (or Pro) PPTP Connection to it
4) Nokia M1122 (this will do a PPTP connection to it (tested + works)
