They could do nothing - they just said keep rebooting and trying
again - eventually it should come right. I asked them if they could
follow it up and get it fixed by the right people and they did not know
who that was.

Yip - but I have tried and cannot do that.

Pings do not work - I cannot remember what they did exactly but
I got no response from anything. Traceroutes - well, I have never
got that to work. I thought it was a standard command but it
came beck with bad command or file name.

As I said - ping did not work - I tried pinging xtra.co.nz for one and it
came back with something about it not existing - can't remember exactly
but I think it was something like unknown host. I did not do that last
night but have in the past.

I thought after that I should ask on this list.

It wasn't. When it is mine I can do nothing. I cannot get my mail from
list.unixathome.org cos the server does not exist. I cannot get news from
news.xtra.co.nz. I cannot post news or e-mail cos smtp.xtra.co.nz
does not exist. I cannot view www.home.gen.nz or any other page
for the same reason. Nothing can be found.

Thanks for that - just what I wanted. Now I want the next step as it
can take about an hour to self resolve this problem when it arises.

Chrissy.
