Does it matter that much though? What is a typical error rate on a DSL line?

In any case, IP doesnt assume a reliable link. UDP/IP applications should
handle their own error-correction and the TCP/IP protocol handles
error-correction & retransmission automatically. Although you may be looking
at recovery times of <10ms for DSL and >200ms for TCP/IP, I know if I was
gaming I'd prefer to have interleaving off.

Maybe Telecom should give you the choice, depending on what type of service
you're after.
