When I tried some phone numbers on the Telecom page that tests the potential
line speed, some places wouldn't rate higher than 2Mbit... that might be
why =D

At work, we get 7616 kbit downstream and 800 up, but I think we are very
close to the exchange here. Is the upstream speed the same for everyone?
