Correct - to be even more precise - most cables don't set CTS (Clear to
Send), so you need to explicitly tell the term package NOT to use
hardware flow control - or else it keeps asking if it can send, and
keeps getting told to sod off :-)

I am convinced in this matter because I spent quite some time tracking
that down :-) To the point of having multimeter in hand, re-reading
pinouts and swearing a lot :-)

When you tested the cable what kind of flow control were you using? Most
people get caught out because it needs to be none. Some terminal clients
also seem to work with software flow control but it never works with
hardware flow control which is the default for a lot of clients.

Andrew
