Hello all,

Just wanted to report back that after a week of testing I can happily report
back my Ni200 is no longer disconnecting from Jetstart when someone answers
the phone at home.

According to ADSL_Helpdesk, they "made some changes to a card setting at the
exchange".

Thanks to all (especially John at ADSL_Helpdesk) for making me a happy
chappie.

Cheers
Stan

Subject: Phone Calls disconnecting my Jetstart

Gidday all,

I have an AMD1.4Ghz with an internal Nokia Ni200 PCI ADSL Modem. Card works
fantastically except for one problem.

Each time the phone rings AND when someone answers the phone, my Jetstart
gets disconnected (absolutely @*^#%# me off especially when I'm playing an
online FPS games).

I've checked the wiring - looks like the cabling guy did it correctly with
filter and so on. Line from TNZ comes under the house where the cabling guy
split it into two lines using line connectors (which looks like some kind of
clamps). One line goes to the phones in the house which consist of a
cordless plus a standard phone (all on 2 wire BT boxes).

2nd line goes to PC room where it has a black box the size of a cigarette
lighter beside the BT box (all supplied and installed by the TNZ cable guy).
There, with a modem line it is connected to my PCI modem.

When I requested TNZ to check it, the 2nd cable guy said my Nokia PCI card
is 'known' to have this problem. I borrowed a Dynalink ADSL modem card and
it has the same problem. Funny enough several people I spoke to said they
have the same sort of problem too.

Does anyone here know why a phone call would disconnect my link?

Best regards,
Stan
