  Then yes, you can pinhole ICMP traffic. Unfortunately, a couple of the
details of how to do so vary with your firmware version, but most remain
the same.

  You put in the pinhole like you would any other, but you'll probably
need to specify the protocol by number (ICMP is protocol number 1), as at
least on the M1122 we have here running Gx1x2210.R09, ICMP isn't in the
drop-down list.

  Both internal and external start ports should be 0, but the number of
ports varies. Some firmware versions (older ones, I think) require you to
enter 65535, some require you to enter 0. If you try the wrong one, it
won't accept the pinhole, so try the other one instead. (This is based on
how the devices handle GRE pinholes, but I'd expect it extends to all IP
protocols that don't actually use port numbers.)
