I found that same thing when I was using the original firmware... after a
while (maybe a day if i was lucky, usually around 12hours) the web interface
wouldnt respond, and i wouldnt be able to telnet in etc...

subsequent updates to the firmware (i'm now using 1.8.7.0) seem to have
cured the problem... the router only had to be rebooted because i was
messing about with perl scripts to operate the CLI. Other than, i think its
been up for like 10 or 12 days straight... web interface still responds etc
etc..

the only thing that really bugs me is the high pitched squeal :) "i'm gonna
make you squeal boi"

cheers,
Jared

Subject: RTA020 Question

Heres a question for those of you who own and use Dynalink RTA020 external
routers..

Ive had mine for about 3 months, and I can never get more than a few days
uptime on the damn thing.
After being on for a while, it just hard locks, I know this because it wont
even accept pings on its LAN interface, let along route traffic for the
net..
The only way to get it going again is to turn it off then on again.

This is unnacceptable, as the entire reason I brought a router over a modem
was that a router, being a hardware soltution, souldnt be prone to locking
up and other problems a PCI card solution would be prone to.

What sortof uptimes can you guys get, Do you think mine is a bad one from
the batch? or is this a general problem with the router model.
I don't think its due to overheating, as I have changed the router to its
vertical mode, using its stand, to get more surface area cooling on its
case..
No effect..

Could this possibly be caused by the phone line or other things external to
the router itself?

Thanks,
Jesse Morgan
