being "new" is not an excuse for stupidity.

keep in mind three things

a) there is potentially a reason why Telecom do not want *THEIR* equipment
being tampered with and admin passwords being changed
b) if the password is needed and the person is at a sufficient technical
level to make use of the password they *will* know how to get it
c) Telecom are on this mailing list and last time this password was posted
the entire DSL project was almost shut down - would YOU like to be the one
explaining to the newspapaers and the rest of the country why we just took
a step backward in technology ?

Posting the password here so every tom dick and harry that believes
themselves to be technically savvy is simply asking for trouble

Niel contributes a lot to this list, and i believe he is a good bloke [tm]
but people need to think of the ramifications of what they post BEFORE they
post it, and believe me, my response was rather mild compared to some of my
other reactions to things people do on here :-)

Also, while you are at it, please trim your To: lines in the email - I am
actually on this list as well you know.. (yes, i CC'd to niel in the
original response for a specific reason, so no, "pot, kettle, black" does
not apply)
