It seams reasonable, PPP is probably dieing due to a lack of end to end
communication.

Back in the old days (i.e. prior to Telecom pumping Jetstream with morphine)
PPP would die every time ATM lost sync from a DSL hissy fit. This was due to
layer to layer signalling.

These days is takes a really bad DSL outage to kill PPP (no LCP echoes ).

Log a fault with your ISP, you probably have a line fault.
