Thank you to all that responded to my previous message "Maximum connections
on 128K Jetstart".

This time what is the recommended practice in setting up your ADSL LAN at
home.
Here is my current set-up at home.

ADSL Router: Nokia M1122
Wireless AP: Linksys WAP11
Hub/Switch 8 Port 10/100 Auto-sensing Switch
PC Desktop: IBM NetVista 10/100 Ethernet
Laptop: PCMCIA Wireless Orinocco Card

I currently have the Pinholes set-up on the ADSL Router to direct traffic to
certain machines and only have certain ports open. I have the Wireless
Access Point connected directly to the ADSL Router. The Desktop PC is
connected to the switch and in turn the switch connected to the ADSL Router.

What I am hoping to get out of this discussion are the following:

1. Should I have a proper firewall in between my ADSL and machines? If so
what are the recommended solutions bearing I mind I am not a Linux person.

2. What is the best practice to get good performance in a small LAN. I am
running Wireless since I couldn't wire the house but it works and I don't
have encryption enabled since it reduces performance according to all
documentations I have read.

3. It is possible to do Netmeeting on 2 machines? Currently I can only
perform Netmeeting on 1 machine based on the pinhole set-up on the ADSL
router. There are cases when I need to use the other machine and I keep
having to change my NAT.

4. I am currently hosting a website on my Jetstart connection without a
problem, but could not host a POP3 Server. I am running a utility from
http://selfhost.com and http://www.dns2go.com that resolves your name based
on dynamic ip address. I can send an outgoing smtp mail but I am not
receiving it and its not bouncing as well from the other end.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Marvin Gonzales
