For Windoze XP, 2k or NT users, try setting the reg key:
 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tcpip\parameters\Enable
PMTUBHDetect to 1.

This will allow automatic 'Black Hole' router detection and scale the MTU to
suit.

MS Networking sets the DF bit by default.
